This tune came from lyrics written by Trevor and sent to Theo in LA who add the riff. Trevor then added bass at home and Kaspar the drums at his place. Our olf Fool’s Kingdom guitar play added the solo for us. This tune also appeared on the second Cruise Control album but with a less skilful solo by Theo.
A song written in the early 2000s about Sallie and Theo’s first place in Altadena, a far northern suburb of Los Angeles. Sadly this house was completely destroyed in the 2025 fires in LA.
Trevor and Theo doing their best to write an Eric Idle Song.
One of Kaspar’s songs from the first Cruise Control album.
Sallie and Theo were lucky enough to spend a lot of time in France due to Theo’s work, and we were very fond of getting around using their fabulous high speed rail system.
Same song but with French lyrics as sung by Kaspar.
A song dedicate to the late great Dr. Andrew Booth and his wife Dr. Michelle Thaller.
Our first attempt at using AI to make a video, which turned out pretty well, if a tad creepy.
Before Kaspar joined us Cruise Control was just Sallie and Theo. This was their first experient with making a video.
An early live performance of Cruise Control as an acoustic trio.
At this time Kaspar was living in his native Germany, so he was forced to join in from there via Skype. It was way early in the morning for him, poor dear, but he braved it out with the judicious use of whyskey. People were amazed that we did this with no lag, but of course Kaspar could hear Theo at all, he just played along.
Here Kaspar and Theo play with themselves again, but this time in person. Obviously the two of us standing the in the living room were prerecorded.
One Olive Martini
OOM was one of the funnest bands to be in. It formed over time as a result of Theo’s Soiree, more or less an open mic Sallie and Theo hosted for Theo’s birthday each year. Beth, Amy and Brandi would often join us at these and perform and we eventually turned into a pretty good cover band. Even after she moved to New York Brandi would fly in to LA to join us. We always had fun, and we always try and get together when Sallie and Theo are in LA.
This was OOM’s first gig.
An early experiment in building a video for the band.
The OOM crew playing at Sallie’s Birthday Party in late 2015.
Another Altadena Library gig do one of the more difficult songs that has only two chords in it.
One Olive Martini Whip one out at Theo’s Soiree.
At the UnUrban Cafe in Santa Monica. Every now and then Amy wasn’t available so Kaspar would sit in. It was odd but very handy being in a group with three excellent drummers.
Sort of a combined One Olive Martini and Pineapple Doughnut performance as an encore at the penultimate Soiree in LA. With Trevor there I guess it’s Twol Olive Martini.
This is from the last performance by One Olive Martini at the end of the last Soiree hosted by Sallie and Theo in LA. Shortly after this Covid hit, and once that was over Sallie and Theo left LA. Yes, the looping pedal was relatively new.
This is Dangerous Aliens playing at the Topanga Days festival in early 2009.
Not actually Dangerous Aliens, but three members of them at a Jam session at a bar called L'Imprévu in the 14th in Paris October 2012
For Theo’s 50th birthday Soiree Arthur and Bob joined the Dangerous Aliens for a bit of Zappa.
Road to Ruin String Band
Not all the members of Road to Ruin String Band, and a decade after they originally played together, but a Jam was had and a good time was had by us all.
